Quiambao, Tamayo come up big for respective red-hot teams

KEVIN Quiambao kept the win streak going for Goyang Sono Skygunners, as they took the 93-82 victory against Daegu KOGAS Pegasus at home on Thursday in the 2025-26 Korean Basketball League (KBL) season.

The Gilas Pilipinas star uncorked 23 points on 2-of-5 shooting from threes, on top of five rebounds and three assists to see Goyang improve to a 5-9 slate.

SJ Belangel tallied 16 points, seven assists, and two boards in the losing cause for Daegu, which slipped further to a 3-11 card at the cellar.

Fellow national team standout Carl Tamayo erupted for 34 points in Changwon LG Sakers' 95-83 win against Seoul Samsung at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium on Wednesday.

He also had three rebounds, two steals, an assist, and a block for the defending champions who remain on top of the standings at 10-4.

Justin Gutang registered eight points, four assists, two boards, and one steal in the loss for the 6-9 Thunders.

It was a big follow up for Changwon after taking the 83-61 rout of Busan KCC Egis on Monday where Tamayo also hit 20 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two assists, and one block.

William Navarro got two points and four boards as he played limited minutes for the 7-6 Egis.

Abando does damage, too

Rhenz Abando also helped Anyang Jung Kwan Jang grab a share of the lead once more with an 84-63 mugging of Wonju DB Promy at home.

He poured in 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in the win as Anyang rose to a 10-4 slate.

Ethan Alvano did his share for Wonju with 12 points, six boards, five assists, and one steal, but the team fell in back-to-back games after a 65-64 home loss to Suwon KT SonicBoom last Tuesday where he also got 17 points, six boards, and five rebounds. The Promy fell to an 8-6 card.

In the process, Suwon also forced a tie for third with an identical 8-6 record from that win with JD Cagulangan adding 15 points, six assists, two steals, and one rebound in the conquest.
