KEVIN Quiambao went off for an efficient 21-point, eight-rebound, and eight-assist performance, as Goyang Sono Skygunners pulled the rug from under league-leading Changwon LG Sakers, 79-62, in the Korean Basketball League at Changwon Gymnasium.
Quiambao shot 50-percent from the field, outplaying Gilas Pilipinas teammate Carl Tamayo, who was limited to eight points and five rebounds in the loss.
The playoff-seeking Skygunners improved to a 19-23 record—just two wins behind Suwon KT—while Changwon remained on top of the standings at 29-13.
Alvano, Tolentino stay hot
In another matchup, Ethan Alvano spearheaded Wonju DB Promy’s 90-80 victory over Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, forcing a tie for third seed with Anyang KGC at 26-15.
The Fil-Am guard fired for 27 points, six assists, and two rebounds, while Jake Figueroa was held to four points and one rebound in limited minutes for Ulsan.
Arvin Tolentino also bested Justin Gutang in an all-Seoul showdown, as the SK Knights escaped the Samsung Thunders, 82-79.

The 6-foot-5 wing continued his strong play with 14 points, four rebounds, and one assist, helping the Knights move one game ahead in the crowded third-seed race alongside Wonju and Anyang.
Gutang, on the other hand, went scoreless with two rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes of action.
Meanwhile, SJ Belangel posted a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists, along with three rebounds, in Daegu KoGas Pegasus’ 98-86 loss to Suwon KT Sonicboom.
Daegu absorbed its third straight defeat, while JD Cagulangan-less Suwon continued to hold on to the final playoff spot.
