QUEZON City and Dasmarinas opened their National Basketball League campaigns with rousing victories on Sunday at the Dominican College Gym in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The QC Rising Stars beat the Laguna Pistons, 101-86, while the Dasmarinas Ballers edged the Rizal Spartans, 97-81, in the league for homegrown players.
Kent Lao had 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Bryan Nikko Lazo had 13 points for the Rising Stars.
John Cantimbuhan had 21 points, five rebounds and eight assists for the Dasma Ballers, who outscored the Spartans, 26-16, in the second period to pull away.
Aries Berlin Santos topscored for the Pistons with 18 points, as Shinichi Manacsa had 12 points and six assists.
Benjie Jimenez had a double-double as he contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Spartans, who have yet to chalk up a win after two matches.
