THE Quezon Barons began their NBL Chooks-to-Go Chairman’s Cup campaign with a 109-85 win over the Zamboanga Valientes on Saturday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
Christopher ‘Topeng’ Lagrama scored 11 of his 17 points in the third as the Barons outscored the Valientes, 39-13, during that stretch. Lagrama also had six rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Alex Ramos had 21 points and nine rebounds, while Domenick Vera added 18 points for Quezon in its first-ever NBL game.
JC Luciano topscored for Zamboanga with 16 points in the loss.
In the first game, Bulacan picked up its second win in as many outings, beating Mindoro, 106-84.
Dominick Fajardo had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Damayang Filipino Republicans, who grabbed the early lead in the standings.
Rodel Vaygan topscored with 29 points for the Tamaraws Disiplinados in their debut game in the league.
