QC, Taguig score big wins to get boost ahead of M-League semis

PLAYOFF-bound Quezon City and Taguig dispatched their rivals on Tuesday night at the Hagonoy Sports Complex in Taguig City to gain momentum ahead of the the division semifinals of the Metro League Reinforced Conference.

The Junior Capitals scored a 143-106 drubbing of Pasigueño, while the Generals fended off Caloocan-Gerry's Grill, 75-71.

Adzhar Udjan led QC with 16 points on top of 10 rebounds and two blocks in just 20 minutes of action.

Rod William Vasallo contributed 15 markers, Mon Mabayo added 14 while John Mahari, Normel Delos Reyes and import Ibrahim Outtara chipped in 12 markers apiece for the Junior Capitals, who scored the second highest output this conference after Manila's 147 points earlier this month.

Quezon City improved its win-loss to 6-2 to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage in the North Division semifinals.

Jobert Medina scored 21 and Timoteo III Gatchalian had 20 points for Pasigueño, who have earlier

booked a ticket to the South Division semifinals.

Pasig slid to 3-4 slate behind South Division leaders Bacoor (8-0) and Taguig (7-2) which have clinched the top two spots and a twice-to-beat advantages in the division semis.

Meanwhile, Taguig defeated Caloocan-Gerry’s Grill, 75-71, behind reinforcement Emmanuel Ojuola and Richmond Gilbero.

Ojoula had 19 points and 19 rebounds, while Gilbero added 17 points as the Generals fnished with a 7-2 record for second place in the South Division.

McArthur John Enriquez scored 20 points, three rebounds and four assists while Reynaldo De Mesa and Michael De Leon put up 14 markers each for the Supremos, who fell to 4-4 in the tournament backed by the Metro Manila Development Authorit, Philippine Basketball Association, with Barangay 143 as league presentor, and supported by Synergy 88, World Balance, Excellent Noodles, San Miguel Corporation, SMS Global Technologies Inc., Spalding, Team Rebel Sports, PLDT, Gerry’s Grill, Summit Water, Alcoplus, Nature’s Spring and Goodfellow.
