San Beda wins two straight to reach PSSBC quarterfinals as NU bounces back to stay in the hunt

    Nov 10, 2014

NCAA titlist San Beda rode on the hot shooting of Chami Diputado to pull off a come-from-behind 76-74 win over Hope Christian High School, while reigning UAAP champion National University bounced back from a stinging defeat to stay in contention in the 3rd Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship Ironcon Builders Cup on Sunday at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym.

Diputado had 29 points on 9-of-18 shooting and dished out six assists to lead the Red Cubs to their second straight win in Group D and into the crossover quarterfinals slated on Saturday.

Also making it to the next round of the tournament were Jose Rizal University and Far Eastern University in Group B and Mapua and Xavier in Group C.

The Light Bombers handed St. Stephen's High School its second straight loss, 100-34. The Red Robins won 67-58, as University of the East Junior Warriors suffered back-to-back defeats.

Diputado made five triples, the last coming in the final 10.7 seconds that turned out to be the game-winning basket.
