THE East Asia Super League (EASL) is taking its act to Cebu when the Meralco Bolts host the debuting Macau Black Bears.

And it’s also a game for a big cause.

The league will be donating all proceeds from the match to victims of Typhoon Tino, which hit the province last week and cause massive flooding, with Barangay Guadalupe the one badly affected.

The game is set on Nov. 15 at the newly-refurbished Cebu Coliseum.

The EASL referred to it as a purpose beyond basketball.

“Every ticket will help rebuild the lives of those affected and fuel Cebu to recovery,” the league announced on its social media accounts.

This marked the second time EASL would be holding its game in the province considered the basketball mecca down South.

The league held its inaugural Home and Away Final Four in Lapu-Lapu City in 2024 despite no local teams qualified in the semis, with the B.League’s Chiba Jets beating the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League for the crown.

The Cebu game will be the second home game for the Bolts, who are seeking a fitting follow up to their 85-76 win over the Taoyuan Pilots on Saturday at the Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela.

Asian import Sina Vahedi and naturalized player Ange Kouame made their respective debuts for Meralco, which finally made to the win column for a 1-2 record.

Shortly after the game, the entire Meralco team hurriedly left Ilagan for the more than 10-hour travel by bus just before the onslaught of super-typhoon Uwan hit the province on Sunday.

The Bolts arrived in Manila by 7 a.m. Sunday.
