AFTER a public uproar, ticket prices for the Shanghai Sharks' coming matches against Gilas Pilipinas and a PBA selection hav been slashed by half by the management of both the Mall of Asia Arena and the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The decrease in the ticket prices for the May 6 and 7 matches came in the form of a 50 percent discount offered to fans who will purchase tickets from April 30 to May 6.
The Facebook account of the organizing Philippine Sports Commission, meanwhile, has also posted a photo showing the discounted prices of the tickets for the event dubbed the Philippines-China Friendship Games to be attended by former Houston Rockets center Yao Ming in his capacity as the Shanghai Sharks team owner.
For both games, VIP tickets have been slashed from P2,640 to P1,325, while patron seats are now priced from P1,320 to P663. Lower box tickets are now pegged at P530 from P1,060 while upper box seats are now worth P398, from the original P800.
The cheapest seats for general admission have been slashed from P320 to P159 for both games.
PSC chairman Ricardo Garcia had asked MOA Arena and Araneta Coliseum management to slash the prices, saying the games should be made accesible to all fans since the event was not organized for profit but to foster sports relations between the two countries.
