PHILIPPINE National Police and Department of Justice kept their early share of lead with big wins in the UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off at the Pasig City Sports Center.
The PNP Responders drubbed the Senate Sentinels, 85-65, while the DOJ Justice Boosters outlasted the Armed Forces of the Philippines Cavaliers, 93-82.
PNP and DOJ hold 2-0 win-loss records.
Supt. Anthony Padua scattered 18 points while Philip Phillips, Oscar Albayalde, Ireneo Dalogdalog and Alex Sintin combined for 35 points for the PNP Responders, who are bidding to complete a title double.
The Justice Boosters, on the other hand, banked heavily on Lipa City Prosecutor Nonilo Tagalicud’s 23 points.
Meantime, Romulo Paras, Jr., Manuel Gerard Tomacruz and Jose Midas Marquez scored in double figures to help power the Judiciary Magis to a 90-59 drubbing of Bureau of Customs.
Paras had 15 points while Marquez and Tomacruz combined for 27 points as the Magis bounced back from a loss to DOJ in the opener of the tournament organized by UNTV CEO and president Daniel Razon.
