Philippine boys team earns split in opening day of Asean Schools Games basketball tilt

THE Philippines split its two matches in the 2017 Asean Schools Games boys basketball tournament in Singapore.

The Philippines defeated Malaysia, 76-71, on Sunday, before bowing to Thailand, 63-54, on Monday to start off their campaign in the five-team tournament.

Against Malaysia, Joshua Ramirez had 23 points including seven triples, while Jan Carl Luciano added 14 points.

Gerry Austin Abadiano had 10 points, all of which coming at the start of the game to pace the Filipino quintet.

Ooi Xian Ra had 20 points for the Malaysian side.

Other countries seeing action in the competition are host Singapore and Indonesia.
