A RECORD 12 high school teams are seeing action in the 3rd Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championships (PSSBC) Ironcon Builders Cup which starts on November 8.
Last season’s UAAP champion National University and NCAA Season 90 finalists Mapua and San Beda lead the cast in the ‘champions league’ involving high school teams, that also include entries from the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA).
All three high school leagues in Metro Manila are well represented in the tournament as each will have four teams, the biggest since the meet was launched two years ago.
NU has been bracketed in Group A along with Jose Rizal University and Chiang Kai Shek College, while Ateneo, Letran, and St. Stephen High School comprise Group B.
Far Eastern University, Xavier School, and the runner up in the NCAA are in Group C as Hope Christian High School, University of the East, and the NCAA champion are in Group D.
Each group will play a single round-robin with the top two teams advancing into the knockout playoffs until a champion is determined in the title game on November 23.
The champion will receive a trophy and P50,000 while the second and third placers will take home P30,000 and P20,000 respectively.
Aksyon TV will air the games of the league.
