SAN Beda booked its second Philippine Collegiate Champions League finals appearance after beating NCAA Season 90 rival Arellano, 87-68, on Tuesday in their Elite Eight encounter at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Red Lions scored a big win over the same team they swept en route to their fifth straight NCAA title, arranging a best-of-three finals showdown with reigning PCCL titlist La Salle.
San Beda actually ended up in a tie with University of San Carlos with a 3-1 win-loss card but the Red Lions advanced by virtue of their win over the Warriors in the Cebu leg of the Elite Eight. San Beda last made it to the PCCL finals in 2007, bowing to University of the East.
Game One of the finals series is set on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
La Salle and San Beda last met in the Filoil preseason finals won by the Green Archers.
Art de la Cruz had 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Red Lions pulled away in the third by outscoring the Chiefs, 28-19, after a tight first half that ended with Arellano ahead 35-34.
