THE Energen Pilipinas team trounced Indonesia, 81-57, on Saturday to rule the Seaba Under-18 championships in Singapore via sweep.
The Nationals captured the Southeast Asian crown for the third-straight time, sweeping all four games in the round-robin tournament.
Next up for the squad is the Fiba-Asia Under-18 championships in Mongolia this August where they hope to improve on their fourth place finish in last year’s tournament in Vietnam.
J-Jay Alejandro led the Nationals with 18 points, Rey Nambatac had 15 points and Janus Suarez chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds.
Alejandro nailed a three-pointer near the end of the second after Indonesia came to within three points, 31-28, and the Philippine lead was never threatened after that.
The Philippine team leaned on their defensive effort in the fourth, outscoring the Indonesians, 20-8, in the final quarter.
