    PH Under-16 squad beats Thailand, moves closer to Seaba crown

    THE Philippines moved closer to a spot in the Asian championship when it upended Thailand, 82-58, on Wednesday night in the Seaba Under-16 championships in Indonesia.

    Richard Escoto of Far Eastern University-Diliman had 16 points, Michael Dela Cruz of La Salle Greenhills and Jose Lorenzo Mendoza of Ateneo each had 15 points as the Nationals tabbed their third straight win.

    The boys of head coach Jamike Jarin go for the Seaba crown, and the right to represent the region in the Fiba-Asia Under-16 championships, on Thursday night against winless Singapore in the round-robin tournament.

    The Philippines defeated Indonesia 87-52 on Monday, before winning over Malaysia 76-72 on Tuesday.
