THE Philippines emerged the inaugural champion of the FIBA-Asia 3x3 U18 Championship for Boys and Girls following a 21-19 win over India in the Finals Friday night in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Filipino quartet is composed of Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras, Arvin Tolentino, and Prince Rivero. It finished with an overall record of 6-1 after losing its opening match against Qatar, 14-16.
The team advanced to the championship round after a stunning 22-18 win over China in the semis. It earlier beat Japan in the quarterfinals, 21-8.
China settled for the bronze by beating Syria, 19-16.
Chinese-Taipei topped the girls side by also stopping India, 21-13, while China likewise settled for the bronze.
