INAUGURAL champion Jumbo Plastic and powerhouse Mighty Sports seek a seat to the Finals of the PCBL Chairman’s Cup against separate rivals as the semis begins at Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
Jumbo Plastic battles rejuvenated Sta. Lucia in the first game of their best-of-three series beginning 5 p.m followed by the main game between Mighty Sports and Euro-Med at 7 p.m.
The Linoleum Giants are fully rested, making it automatically to the Final Four after winding up No.2 at the end of the double-round eliminations of this tournament supported by Hahn Manila, Spalding, Leatherman, During’s Barbeque and Restaurant, Ambucore and LGR.
However, Sta. Lucia looks to keep rolling after winning two in a row over Biyaheng SCTEX to make it to the Final Four. The Realtors also hope to avenge their ouster last conference at the hands of the eventual Founders Cup champ Linoleum Giants.
Meanwhile, Mighty Sports also look to capitalize on its long break as it became the first squad to make it straight to the semifinal round by virtue of its 10-2 record.
Led by pro-bound Kiefer Ravena and another amateur standout Kevin Ferrer, ex-pro TY Tang and workhorse import Bright Akhuetie, the powerhouse Mighty Sports are favored to win over Euro-Med.
But Euro-Med has revamped its lineup to get stronger. After losing its first four games, the squad handled by Yong Garcia was able to turn things around following the acquisition of ex-pros Lester Alvarez, Eric Salamat, Eloy Poligrates, big man Mike Parala and returning player Pari Llagas.
