SITTING beside Terrence Romeo, Yousef Taha cheered heartily when Kelly Nabong hit a three-pointer to seal GlobalPort's 83-80 win over Magnolia in a PBA preseason game at the Claret School of Quezon City Gym on Thursday.
Taha, who recently signed a two-year deal with the Batang Pier, sat out the match but made sure to make his presence felt in other ways as the team clawed back from a double-digit deficit.
Indeed, the GlobalPort "prodigal son" is back after leaving the country for Kuwait for "personal reasons." And he's hoping the third time's the charm for him at GlobalPort.
Asked what made him decide to make a PBA comeback, the 6-foot-7 bigman said, "Everything just aligned at the right time so I came back."
Taha said he hasn't played in a major league in Kuwait, spending most of his time with his family. But he made sure to stay in shape.
The Filipino-Palestinian, though, admitted he is still getting the hang of playing organized basketball again, but he's making steady progress since joining the team a week ago.
"I'm getting there. It's a buildup of things. I just joined the team this week. It's gonna take some time," he said.
"Getting back in basketball shape again. The only way to get back in basketball is by playing and practicing everday and making it part of your life."
