AFTER taking the stage to be acknowledged as the coach in the All-Interview team during the PBA Press Corps awards night, Yeng Guiao immediately proved again why.
A quote machine not just this recently concluded PBA season, but ever since, the new NLEX coach let out another juicy hint shortly after the first player on the revived award list, Paul Lee, went on stage.
Co-host Rizza Diaz acknowledged the semi-reunion of the former Rain or Shine player-coach duo on stage after they’ve gone their separate ways, with Lee also moving recently to Star.
That’s when Guiao proved why he’s in the All-Interview team.
“Nagkahiwalay nga kami ng landas, but not for long,” the outspoken coach addressed the crowd, drawing cheers.
“Okay na ako sa sinabi ni coach Yeng,” Lee replied with a smile. "Hindi natin masabi. Ang family ng PBA, maliit lang naman 'yan."
Pressed for comment after the annual awards night, Guiao joked he was just “trying to earn the award,” before turning serious.
“Of course, Paul and I are very close,” said Guiao, who drafted Lee with the second pick in the 2011 Draft. “I’ve been very close to all my players.”
“And if there’s any chance that I can get him, especially wala na siya sa Rain or Shine, wala naman akong agreement or any moral obligation to any other team other than my old team, so if there’s a possibility, we will explore it,” bared the fiery mentor, who Lee asked to be a godfather in his wedding on Tuesday.
Only time will tell if the possible reunion comes to reality.
