RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao probably let all his anger out in the Elasto Painters dugout that he was quick to stick to the positives when he talked to the press after their 109-105 loss to San Miguel Beer in Game One of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series on Tuesday night.

The Painters squandered a huge 20-point fourth-quarter lead that left their outspoken mentor fuming during the post-game huddle, but he was ready to put the meltdown behind him when he emerged from the dugout.

“We just need to put this behind us,” Guiao said. “It’s a very disappointing loss, but it’s a long series. We’ll just prepare tomorrow, come back Thursday, and learn from the lesson of today.”

Guiao added they won’t let the result haunt them in the future.

“We don’t want this game to stop us from doing what we need to do, getting down on ourselves,” he said. “Looking at this game positively, to be able to lead San Miguel for the most part, that means there’s really a chance we can beat them.”

“The game was ours to lose,” he added. “We can’t blame anybody but ourselves. But I think we should just take the lesson of this game and be a better team on Thursday.”

Guiao was even game enough to joke about the “Pabebe Wave” he did when he was about to be called for a technical foul after a commotion with SMB guard Chris Ross in the third quarter.
