RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao played down his verbal spat with Bong Quinto during the PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup quarterfinals on Saturday.
Guiao was caught hurling choice words at Quinto at the 10:42-mark of the Elasto Painters’ 96-79 loss to the Bolts. Quinto was called for an offensive foul in the previous play after an elbow landed to Gian Mamuyac's face at the post.

Guiao was later called for a technical foul for the incident.
The outspoken Rain or Shine coach said the incident is nothing personal and is just part of the basketball game.
“Wala naman ‘yun. Trash talking lang ‘yun. Natural lang ‘yun,” said Guiao. “That does not carry out of the game. So it’s nothing.”

Guiao said Quinto’s act on whether it was intentional or not is irrelevant as any type of physicality is part of the game, especially in a playoff atmosphere such as Saturday.
Meralco was fighting for dear life as the seventh-seed squad is in a twice-to-win disadvantage against second-ranked Rain or Shine.

“Actually, we expect it,” said Guiao, referring to the physicality. “But of course, mahirap kasi ‘yung sisikuhin mo sa mukha ‘yung kalaban mo. I don’t know if it’s by accident or just maybe trying to intimidate our players. But kasama rin ‘yan.
"Kasama naman lahat ‘yan. Kasama rin ‘yung trash talk, whether they are trash talking among themselves or I’m trash talking to them, that’s all part of it,” added Guiao.
