RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao is waging war not on Meralco, but against the PBA officiating crew in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.

For the second straight game, league officials were at the receiving end of Guiao’s tirade following the Elasto Painters’ 92-82 win over the Bolts in Game Two of their best-of-five semifinals.

In particular, Guiao’s tirade was aimed at referee Rey Yante, who he accused of ‘inventing calls’ against his team twice in the ongoing playoffs.

“Twice now, referee Yante said that I used profane language. He’s a barefaced liar. Sinungaling siya,” said Guiao of the controversial official who whistled him for a technical foul in the first half.

“Hindi niya ako nakita o narinig because you can’t invent false calls.”

Yante called a technical foul on Guiao during the Rain or Shine-Ginebra quarterfinal match up.

And he did it again on Sunday when he whistled Guiao for a 'T' for using ‘profane language’ following Beau Belga’s contact against Meralco import Josh Davis.

Guiao denied ever saying anything aimed at game officials at that point.

“For a referee to invent calls, that’s dangerous. That’s lying. That’s basic dishonesty on his part,” said the outspoken mentor.

With the Elasto Painters now just a win away from making the finals, Guiao said the team will be doing its part of requesting the league not to allow Yante to call any of Rain or Shine’s games.

It may be a long shot, but Guiao said the move is the franchise’s way of sending its message to the league hierarchy.

“We’re going to formalize a request to the PBA not to assign him (Yante) anymore to our games. I’m not sure (if it will be granted), but we can request,” said Guiao.

The Rain or Shine coach also hit the officiating during the series opener against the Bolts, especially after the referees changed their call by nullifying a three-pointer by Gabe Norwood.

Guiao’s complaint led to the suspension for five games and without pay of referee Art Herrera.
