NLEX coach Yeng Guiao’s door is always open for Jericho Cruz, but only as long as the Road Warriors and Rain or Shine can come up with the fairest deal possible for both sides.
Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia said Cruz has long aired his desire to reunite with Guiao in the wake of reports that Raymond Almazan, Beau Belga, and Cruz allegedly want to be traded from the Elasto Painters.
Cruz’s situation appears to be the most pressing.
Guiao, however, stressed that trade negotiations haven’t started yet.
“It will depend really if yung kapalit niya o yung trade mismo ay magbe-benefit yung both sides,” Guiao said. “As of now kasi, wala pang concrete na pwedeng pag-usapan. All we know is that he indicated his willingness to be traded and specifically traded to us, so nandun pa lang.”
Maybe next week, baka pwedeng i-explore yun,” he added. “Kung acceptable naman sa amin yung conditions, syempre depende kung sino ang hingin nila. Baka hingin naman nila si Kiefer, hindi naman pwede yun, o yung mga key players namin din.”
But I know Jericho and we’ve been together for three, four years. I know him personally. Inaanak ko siya,” he continued. “So if we feel that the trade offer, trade conditions are fair, then maybe we can explore it.”
Guiao, though, implied that he is happy with his current lineup, but is willing to entertain trade offers involving Cruz.
“We are not really in the market for any trade, but since there is an offer, then maybe we can consider,” the outspoken mentor said. “Kung may details na – I think yung details naman hindi sa amin manggagaling, sa kanila naman manggagaling – so we’ll just wait for those details.”
