NLEX could see itself having a ‘Triple Tower’ with the acquisition of Marion Magat with the Road Warriors.

The Road Warriors suddenly got bigger this season after signing Magat following a three-year stint with Alaska, joining Poy Erram and JR Quinahan.

NLEX coach Yeng Guiao has big plans for the 6-foot-7 cager, including putting him in a program to build his body.

“He is very athletic. Siguro ang kulang lang niya is he was with Alaska for three years and he was not able to build up his frame and his body. First day niya sa amin, ‘yun ang unang unang sabi ko na he has to work on.

“He is lifting more weights, we put him in a program to make him a little bulkier. He has the skills and athletic ability,” said Guiao.

Guiao is looking at the possibility of playing Magat at small forward and even field him alongside the 6-foot-8 Erram and the 6-foot-6 Quinahan.

“As soon as we are able to make him comfortable playing the four, I will also look to play make him play the three kasi may quickness naman siya at may outside shot siya. We are going to be even bigger if he can play the three spot so we can have Poy and JR, we can have Marion at the wing and we can have somebody another guard, maybe Kevin (Alas) and Kiefer (Ravena) if he is there already. Looking forward to that,” said Guiao.

Magat finished with 13 points in 12 minutes of play, eight markers of which coming in the fourth quarter of the NLEX’s 96-87 loss to Rain or Shine.

“Nung una, parang gigil pa ako nung first half,” the former National University cager said. “Pero nung pinasok uli ako ni coach, sabi niya mag-relax lang at laruin ko ‘yung laro ko.”

Magat sees his move to NLEX as a fresh start after being a seldom-used player with Alaska in his three-year stint.

“Parang rookie uli ako. Ang goal ko lang is pakita ko ‘yung laro ko,” said Magat.

Magat said he was surprised that he was picked up by NLEX, and the move made him even more determined to do his best for the Road Warriors.

“Nagulat din ako kasi pinapunta nila ako doon. Nagulat din ako na hindi na ako ni-renew. Nagpapasalamat din ako sa NLEX na tinanggap nila ako,” Magat said.
