ANTIPOLO CITY - Coach Yeng Guiao was grinning from ear-to-ear the moment he learned NLEX just notched another victory in the PBA Governors Cup.
At the same time, he's also a bit concerned if there's still a job waiting for him once he comes back from the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia.
Acting coach Jojo Lastimosa had a good laugh upon revealing of Guiao's text message to him shortly after the Road Warriors outgunned NorthPort, 123-107, for a 2-0 start in the season-ending meet.
"Coach nice job," said Lastimosa of Guiao's initial words for him and the team before lowering the boom.
"Hanap na ako trabaho dito sa Jakarta tutal mukhang hindi na ako kailangan diyan," said Lastimosa with a big laugh as he shared Guiao's message to him on his phone.
"That's funny coach," replied Lastimosa to Guiao, who he credited for having a good sense of humor.
But seriously, Lastimosa said the credit is not on him alone, rattling off the names of fellow deputies Adonis Tierra, Sandy Arespacochaga and Jigs Mendoza for doing their own jobs.
"This is not my sole responsibility. The other guys are also doing the heavy lifting," he said.
