YENG Guiao was once again a victim of the worsening traffic situation in the country, causing him to arrive late for Game Six of the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

Just to be able to make it to the game, Guiao had to walk his way from Ayala to Cubao.

"Yes, I walk. Kaya naman. It took me one hour and 30 minutes to make it," he said when Spin.ph tried to confirm the matter.

Guiao didn’t arrive at the Smart-Araneta Coiliseum until the eight-minute mark of the second quarter, shotly after Jireh Ibanes scored on a basket to give the Elasto Painters a 28-19 lead.

A Rain or Shine staff said Guiao got stuck in the Ayala Ave. area on a 'Payday Friday,' a notoriously gridlocked day for Manila's traffic.

He just arrived from a late flight from Negros, but would have made it to the game on time if not for the traffic situation.

Guiao said he tried taking the MRT, but the long line of passengers turned him off.

"So imbes na maghintay ka sa pila (ng MRT), I said to myself it would be wise to just move forward and walk my way to the venue," said Guiao.

The Rain or Shine coach also came to a game late in December of 2014 when he likewise got stuck in a traffic, owing to the holiday rush,

Deputies Caloy Garcia and Mike Buendia called the shots for the team in the absence of Guiao, who is also seeking reelection as congressman representing the first district of Pampanga.
