THEY'RE Pampanga's best when it comes to basketball, but that doesn't stop them from getting into each other's nerves.
Kapampangans Yeng Guiao and Calvin Abueva figured in a heated exchange of words before halftime of the preseason game between Alaska and NLEX on Monday afternoon at the Upper Deck gym in Pasig City.
The spat appeared to fire up Abueva, who led the Aces with 25 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in just 25 minutes of play.
Guiao and NLEX, though, had the last laugh in the form of a 106-100 victory.
"Nothing serious," Guiao told SPIN.ph when asked about the spat with 'The Beast' afterwards.
The fiery NLEX coach said he simply didn't appreciate seeing Abueva push his player Jonathan Uyloan during one play in the first half.
"Binu-bully n'ya si Uyloan eh," Guiao said. "Sabi ko, 'Wala namang natatakot sa 'yo.'"
Abueva shouted 'sweet nothings' to Guiao just before the two were broken up, but the Road Warriors coach said he never heard the response.
Meanwhile, Guiao said Uyloan and Ronjay Buenafe, two former players at Rain or Shine, are in the running for a spot in the NLEX lineup, but there are no guarantees.
The former Pampanga vice governor and representative said NLEX currently has 17 players under contract and signing the two will mean shedding some players from the roster.
