RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao believes Manny Pacquiao scoring his first PBA career field goal on Sunday left a lesson to players not to underestimate anybody in the league.
Pacquiao, the Mahindra playing-coach, scored his first pro basket on a left-corner jumper early in the second quarter of the Enforcers’ 108-94 loss to the Elasto Painters.
“If you leave him open, he can make shots,” Guiao said. “I think it’s really an attitude that every time you play anybody in this league, you have to play them a hundred percent.”
Guiao regretted that the boxing icon and fellow congressman made the feat at their expense.
“We will be ‘posterized’ forever,” the outspoken mentor said.
More than being mad at Chris Tiu, who defended Pacquiao when he made his jumper, Guiao joked of being frustrated that his fellow congressman achieved his “dream” first.
“Wala, basketball lang naman ‘to. Nagalit ako kasi matagal ko nang pangarap yun eh,” he said with a smile. “Naunahan ako sa pangarap ko.”
