PETRON has a lot more to be worried about than Rain or Shine in the PBA Governors Cup semifinals.
A flu bug has hit the team and has downed two more players as well as a member of the coaching staff before the Boosters took to the floor in Game One of their best-of-five series against the Painters.
Just two weeks after Arwind Santos, June Mar Fajardo and import Elijah Millsap were downed by tonsilitis and flu, it is now Mark Isip and Magi Sison who have been put on sick bay by the virus.
"Worried na nga kami kasi parang hindi mawala wala," coach Gee Abanilla told Spin.ph a few minutes before Game One.
So vicious is the virus that even the Petron team doctor, Chito Ibanes, has also been downed by flu.
Team consultant John Todd Purves has also not been spared as the American was seen going in and out of the comfort room of the Boosters' dugout minutes before game time.
"I don't know what hit me. It's flu-like symptoms, a bum stomach or something," said Purves, who nonetheless sat on the bench despite not feeling well.
Abanilla said the team is already taking steps to keep the virus from spreading.
"Pag may nilagnat ngayon o masama ang pakiramdam, pinapauwi agad namin. Ina-isolate para di makahawa. Mahirap kasi playoffs na," said the youthful coach.
