So vicious is the virus that even the Petron team doctor, Chito Ibanes, has also been downed by flu.

Team consultant John Todd Purves has also not been spared as the American was seen going in and out of the comfort room of the Boosters' dugout minutes before game time.

"I don't know what hit me. It's flu-like symptoms, a bum stomach or something," said Purves, who nonetheless sat on the bench despite not feeling well.

Abanilla said the team is already taking steps to keep the virus from spreading.

"Pag may nilagnat ngayon o masama ang pakiramdam, pinapauwi agad namin. Ina-isolate para di makahawa.  Mahirap kasi playoffs na," said the youthful coach.
