VETERAN big man Kelly Williams will be a doubtful presence for TNT when it launches the final stretch of its bid for a coveted PBA Grand Slam.
Coach Chot Reyes said the former MVP is still recovering from a grade 2 sprained ankle and remains day-to-day going to the start of the Philippine Cup finals between the Tropang 5G and San Miguel.
The 43-year-old Williams went down with the injury in Game 4 against Rain or Shine and missed the last two games of their semifinals series which they ultimately won in six games.

“He’s doubtful. That’s why he couldn’t make it here because we wanted to keep him off his feet,” said Reyes of the Fil-Am center during the finals presser held Friday at the Chardonnay by Astoria.
Game 1 of the best-of-seven title series is set Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Kelly's contributions
In the four games he played in the semis, Williams averaged 4.2 points and 7.2 rebounds, numbers which the Tropang 5G will definitely miss if ever he doesn’t become available in the finals.
“It’s a day-to-day situation. But like I said, he’s not even joining our practices as of this morning. So it will be a day-to-day thing,” added Reyes.

Unlike Williams, shooting guard RR Pogoy has begun shooting and light jogging in TNT’s practices, although he’ll be waiting until Saturday to know whether he’s good to go or not in the series opener.
“Bukas ko pa malalaman,” the Cebu native curtly said.
