PAUL Lee was favoring a hurting calf that restricted his playing minutes in the PBA Philippine Cup Season 50 debut of Magnolia.

LA Tenorio disclosed to Spin.ph Lee’s health condition in light of the limited playing time he had in Magnolia’s 80-73 win over Barangay Ginebra that marked Tenorio’s debut as head coach of the Hotshots.

“Nag-usap kami before the season na restricted minutes muna siya since he’s complaining about his calf. May pain siyang nararamdaman,” said Tenorio.

“So we agreed na 10 minutes lang muna siya per game.”

True enough, Lee, 36, only suited up for nine minutes against the Kings and went scoreless on 0-of-2 shooting, though he finished with two rebounds.

But as the tournament progresses, Tenorio assured Lee’s minutes will gradually increase.

“Restricted muna siya ngayon, pero pag tagal madadagdagan na,” added the Magnolia mentor.

With Lee spending time on the bench, starters Jerom Lastimosa and Javi Gomez De Liano took care of Magnolia’s outside shooting.

Gomez de Liano and Lastimosa each had 14 points and combined for 6-of-15 shooting from three-point range, where the Hotshots finished 9-of-27 overall.
