LADY luck may finally be smiling on Magnolia.
Zavier Lucero, who was rumored to be wooed by a Korean Basketball League (KBL) club, may just decide to stay put with the Hotshots which would give new head coach LA Tenorio a much needed shot in the arm ahead of the 50th season of the PBA.
Spin.ph learned that Lucero’s suitor is none other than Anyang Jung Kwan Jang, the former KBL champion which is in dire need for help after a pedestrian showing last season.

But with the Red Boosters announcing the decision to bring back Rhenz Abando in the fold for the 2025-26 campaign, the Korean side have seemingly abandoned pursuing the services of the former University of the Philippines forward.
It’s a welcome sign for Magnolia especially with how Lucero, the fifth pick of the PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft, performed this past Philippine Cup averaging 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists to be one of the top contenders for the Best Player of the Conference nod.
Of course, Lucero’s camp may still be exploring their options to take his act overseas considering the wealth of exposure the 6-foot-7 winger can gain.
No question though, that there’s a lot of excitement coming from the Hotshots side all the more as the Tenorio hiring signals a huge pivot for the franchise which last won a championship back in the 2018 Governors’ Cup.
Now, the focus is on whether Magnolia seize up the opportunity to finally strike a deal that Lucero can’t refuse.
