ANTIPOLO – Juan Gomez de Liano missed Wednesday's game in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup due to an injury.
Gomez de Liano got hurt during their previous ballgame against Converge where the FiberXers lost in overtime, 111-100, last Saturday. With Gomez de Liano out, the FiberXers were defeated again, this time, versus Meralco by 21 points, 109-88.

Gomez de Liano is hoping that it is only a minor injury.
“I just had an MRI yesterday. Hopefully, just a minor contusion. I hurt my knee last game. Natamaan, knee-to-knee, natamaan tuhod ko. It got a bit swollen. So hopefully, it heals by itself, and hopefully mabilis (recovery),” said Gomez de Liano.
The Converge rookie is hoping for the best, targeting a comeback on Wednesday when the FiberXers face Philippine Cup champion San Miguel.
“Hopefully, wala (nothing serious),” said Gomez de Liano. “Right now, I want to manage it, and hopefully, I'll be back within a week or so.”
Converge takes its first litmus test on Wednesday in that San Miguel game where the Beermen will be playing in its second game of the conference following their Saturday collision course with Titan Ultra.
“I think that's the main goal,” said Gomez de Liano, referring to coming back against San Miguel.
Gomez de Liano intends to rest as much as possible, saying that the injury might have also come from his busy offseason that included a stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
“I'm gonna just attack rehab, just allow it to heal, I'll just catch up on some rest. Kasi tuluy-tuloy rin ‘yung mga ganap sa akin like with the training, Gilas, and I feel like overfatigued lang. Hopefully, makabalik na ako,” he added.
Converge sorely missed the offensive presence of Gomez de Liano, who is averaging 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and six assists this conference, as the FiberXers were outscored 61-43 in the second half.
“Of course it was tough to see. I really wanted to be out there with the guys, just to kind of help them. Pero injuries are out of my control. Unfortunately, I got hurt. I feel like we could have done better. So back to the drawing board tomorrow,” Gomez de Liano said.
