From a brief two-year stint in the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA), he'd go on to win a hat-trick of PBA titles with San Miguel along with two All-Star nods, two Mythical First Team selections and was part of the Mythical Second Team and All-Defensive Team once each.

Now nearly a decade since the final buzzer sounded on his time in Philippine basketball, the ‘Junkyard Dawg’ took on a new venture while her daughters Dawn and Maria begin sporting journeys of their own.

Peña, 47, has taken on managerial roles in the corporate world, with a hand on some of the biggest live events in America today.

“Aside from supporting my kids’ volleyball careers, I’ve been focusing on personal and professional development,” Peña shared with SPIN.ph.

“I’ve been working as a project manager and also handling logistics and production for large-scale events like music tours.”

Among his high-profile clients include American rapper Chris Brown for his 'INDIGOAT Tour' and 'One of Them Ones Tour' with Lil Baby, and the annual Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C. featuring some of music's biggest acts.

"The transition to a different field has been interesting, but a lot of the skills from my past experiences—like problem-solving, working under pressure, and managing teams—translate really well."

He is among the pool of coaches in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), a multi-sport, non-profit and volunteer-based association driven by the pursuit of upholding amateurism, physical fitness and inclusivity in sports.

Leaving the Philippines became a life-altering move for Peña, but one he continues to takes pride in with a new sense of purpose dedicated to blazing a trail for young athletes to pursue the fruitful path he once took.

“I’ve also stayed involved in sports, doing some coaching with a large AAU league basketball group and I have also been following the PBA very closely lately,” Peña said.

“Adjusting back to life in the U.S. has been a transition, but it’s been rewarding—balancing career moves, family, and new challenges along the way."

Wherever life after the PBA continues to take him from here on out, Peña will always owe part of who he's become as a person today to his fruitful years in Asia's oldest basketball league.

"Playing in the PBA definitely shaped who I am today. It taught me discipline, adaptability, and how to lead in high-pressure situations—all things that come in handy in the corporate world. Whether it’s handling tight deadlines or making sure a project runs smoothly, that athlete mindset of preparation and resilience still drives how I work today," he said.
