WAYNE Chism had a chance to cap a big game for NLEX with a potential game-winner in the end.

That was until Rabeh Al-Hussaini changed the script.

With the score tied at 103-all and the game against Star down to its final 30 seconds, NLEX coach Yeng Guiao designed an offensive set that would have Al-Hussaini playing decoy at the low block before setting up Chism for the shot at a go-ahead basket.

The play came undone, however, as Al-Hussaini decided to go for a short stab that rolled in and out, leaving Star enough time to put together a thrilling sequence that led to Jio Jalalon's game-winning baseline jumper at the buzzer.

Chism, though, was in no mood to point fingers after the loss.

"Coach had confidence in Rabeh. Coach drew up the play for him and he took the shot. I can’t get mad because that’s a great play that coach drew up," Chism said after the match.

"He was a good fit for the play and coach believed in him. It (the ball) just bounced off," he added.

The Road Warriors' fourth successive loss put to naught a solid performance from Chism, who had 33 points and 29 rebounds while going toe-to-toe with hulking Star import Tony Mitchell.

Chism, however, was encouraged to see the Road Warriors courageously fight back from a 21 point second quarter deficit to put themselves in a good position to win late.

For Chism, that's something that they can build on in their upcoming games.

"In the second half we fought and we fought until the very end. Had we taken it into overtime, we could have pulled it off," Chism continued.

"We’re getting closer in getting the win. I believe we could crawl up the mountain and make a big splash."
