TECHNICAL fouls on Jay Washington and Ronald Tubid highlighted the physicality and emotions of Game Two that saw TNT KaTropa tie the best-of-three PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals against San Miguel.

The KaTropa beat the Beermen, 93-88, to extend the series to a deciding Game Three on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. That should be total war, judging from how Monday night's game went.

During a timeout with 7:10 left in the fourth quarter, Washington and Tubid got into a confrontation that merited technical fouls for both players.

Earlier, Washington also got into a heated exchange of words with Chris Ross of San Miguel after a hard screen against Jayson Castro caused the TNT guard to fall on the floor.

Washington said the physical plays and heated exchanges are just part of the game.

“I think that’s expected in the playoffs. Things get heated. It’s expected,” said Washington.

During the incident involving Ross, Washington said he is only standing up for his teammate.

“It was a hard play on Jayson which triggered it. We didn’t take kindly to that. Standing up for my teammate. We had some words exchanged. It’s part of the game,” said Washington.

Washington scored five points and grabbed four rebounds in 17 minutes of play in TNT's 93-88 victory in Game Two.

Washington was glad how the KaTropa responded to the Beermen onslaught.

“Grind it out win. They are a tough team. June Mar [Fajardo] went down for a few minutes. Hope he is not hurting too bad. It’s a grind it out win. We played well. They played well. A lot of missed shots. A lot of loose balls. But we got a few breaks and just like they did in the first game, they got those 50-50 balls, we are fortunate to get those in this game to close it out,” Washington said.

Washington expects nothing less in Game Three.

“I think it’s the same type of game. See who makes the better adjustments. Expect another dogfight. We have to stay with not getting too high and not to get too low. Just stay the course,” said Washington.
