CELEBRATED Fil-American guard Stanley Pringle is likely to miss the first few months of the fourth season of the Asean Basketball League, dealing a major blow to the title retention bid of the Indonesia Warriors.
Spin.ph has learned that Pringle suffered a meniscal tear, a sensitive knee injury that also sidelined former Rain or Shine import Jamelle Cornley.
Cornley is aware about the situation of Pringle, his former teammate at Penn State, who contacted him after sustaining the injury in practice.
“Yeah, he called to inquire how I went about with my own torn meniscus. So I told him to take care of it, because it’s critical and it’s on the knee,” said Cornley, recalling his conversation with Pringle just recently.
It’s not known yet if the high scoring guard has already undergone surgery, but Cornley believes the cat-quick guard is still seeking second opinion from doctors.
“From how I read his words, he won’t have surgery yet. He wants to make sure,” said Cornley, who himself is now on his third month of rehabilitation from the same injury.
The injury is expected to sideline Pringle for the first few weeks of the Warriors’ ABL campaign, which kicks off on January 14 when they host arch-rival San Miguel Beermen-Philippines.
Pringle is a potential PBA prospect until he was given a lucrative three-year deal by Warriors owner Eric Thohir, who also co-owns the Philadelphia 76ers.
