ATHLETES in Action playmaker Traevon Jackson knows he will be facing high expectations once he takes his act to the NBA by next year.

You can blame his father for that.

Unknown to many, the six-foot playmaker travelling with the Athletes in Action touring team is the son of former Jimmy Jackson, the former star guard who played 14 seasons with a dozen teams in an NBA career.

His son, who helped lead Wisconsin to a Final Four appearance in the US NCAA a few months back, is in town with the American Christian team which played a series of exhibition games while spreading the love of God through the Gospel.

"It's been a great experience to here. I love the people, just going to the community and just be able to play with some really great players today," Jackson told Spin.ph after AIA held off Barako Bull, 113-105,to complete for a six-game sweep of its Manila tour on Monday at the Gatorade Hoops Center.

Against Barako Bull, the Columbus, Ohio native showcased his playmaking skills while firing nine of his 17 points in the final period to douse the Energy's fightback from a 22-point hole.

While comparisons with his father are inevitable, Jackson said he'd rather not talk about his father, whom he still credited for playing a big part in his development as a player.

"I don't want to put him in the spotlight, though my dad has been a good dad who has taught me (basketball) at a young age," he added.

But the 21-year-old Jackson said he also had several mentors who helped him grow, among them current AIA coach Morris Michalski.

"He's (Michalski) influential and he's just awesome, so sacrificial and has helped me a lot in aligning to His (God's) will," he said.
