Divided loyalty for Vic Sotto as he watches Game 3 of Magnolia-SMB finale from ringside

    Apr 1, 2018

VIC Sotto was among the big Easter Sunday crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to witness Game Three of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel and Magnolia.

The question is, who exactly was he cheering for?

The TV host-comedian is the father-in-law of injured Hotshots stalwart Marc Pingris but the Eat Bulaga! star is also an endorser of San Miguel, starring in many TV ads with Pingris and Beermen star June Mar Fajardo.

Sotto, 62, said he’s just here to enjoy a good show.

“Andito ako to watch a good game, kahit sino manalo okay naman sa akin,” Sotto said. “I’m a basketball fan, I love to watch good, clean basketball.”

What looked like a thriller early on turned into a blowout in the fourth quarter as the Beermen zoomed to a111-87 win and took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven title playoff.

The game was closed out early that Sotto, together with his brother Sen. Tito Sotto, left the venue with roughly three minutes left in the game and San Miguel up by 21 points.

“I was expecting a close fight pero mukhang malaki na ang San Miguel, they’re the better team right now,” said Sotto.

That won’t discourage the popular TV-movie personality from watching more games as he promised to be in attendance for the rest of this PBA Finals.

“Siyempre, you can expect me to watch more games.”
