VENKY Jois is set to undergo surgery on Friday to repair his torn right Achilles, keeping him out for the rest of the season.
NorthPort physical therapist Sydney Talabis said the official prognosis on their import is a high grade partial tear in his Achilles that he sustained during their previous contest against Meralco last Saturday.
The surgery that will be done by renowned orthopedic surgeon Raul Canlas ends the season for Jois, who will no longer be in action as the Batang Pier still chase for a playoff berth.
At the same time, NorthPort is also facing the prospect of playing without an import for its game against Magnolia, as it still is without a replacement reinforcement as of posting time.
The Batang Pier are currently at fifth place in Group A with a 3-5 win-loss record and will play on Friday, the day of Jois’ surgery, against the Hotshots, who are now at fourth with a 4-4 slate.
Well wishes for Venky
The best case scenario for Jois, according to the team, is a six to seven-month recovery based on his blood supply that will aid in the healing of the injury.

Jois sustained the injury while taking a shot, and was taken out of the court on a stretcher with 3:15 left in the first quarter.
Already an import for NorthPort in the 2023-24 Commissioner’s Cup, Jois came in to replace Taylor Johns after just one game. A Johns comeback is not a possibility as he is no longer in the country.
