THE waiting finally bore fruit for undrafted rookie Frank Bonifacio after the free agent wingman cracked the regular roster of Barangay Ginebra for the season-ending Governors Cup.

Bonifacio, who has been a practice player for so long, was inserted in the lineup to fill the spot vacated by injured big man Greg Slaughter.

The Kings open their campaign in the final conference of the season on Saturday against Globalport Batang Pier.

The 6-foot-2 Fil-Am from Los Positas Junior College suited up for the team during its campus tour game against Mahindra at the Arellano University gym.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone acknowledged how hard Bonifacio has been working in practice for the team, and rightfully deserves to be elevated as part of the regular roster once an opening propped up following the injury to Slaughter.

“Frank has been busting his behind for the last two years as my practice player, and because of his hard work and improvement, has earned a spot in the roster,” stressed the two-time grand slam coach.

“He plays the game extremely hard, is a great athlete, and is a top notch defender. We will work hard to get him minutes.”

Bonifacio was among the top performers during the Draft Combine workout for the Rookie Class of 2014. Unfortunately, no team dared to touch him when the Rookie Draft came.

Now thatGinebra took a second look at him, Bonifacio vows to repay the Kings’ trust on him.

“It’s only fitting that I’m playing for Ginebra. Because, from the start I’ve always had that ‘Never Say Die’ attitude. #activated,” Bonifacio tweeted in his account@fboomshakalaka when he officially made the Ginebra lineup.
