THE silent operator that he is, back up big man Rob Reyes walked away from the game he loves most without much fanfare.

The 33-year-old Fil-American big man announced his retirement from the PBA through his Instagram account on Thursday as he stressed ‘all good things must come to an end.’

"After much consideration, thought, and prayer, I've decided to retire," added Reyes, who has since returned to the US.

The 6-foot-6 Reyes was a first round (4th overall) pick of TNT Katropa in the 2008 Rookie Draft, where he won a championship with the franchise during his freshman year after the Tropang Texters ruled the 2008-09 Philippine Cup.

But after a full season with TnT, the native of Maryland would spent the next eight years of his career playing for Barako Bull, Powerade, Petron (San Miguel), Air21, a second stint with the Tropang Texters, and finally with NLEX.

The Road Warriors traded him to Mahindra prior to the start of the season as part of the Bradwyn Guinto deal. He failed to make the regular roster of the Floodbuster.

Still, there was no tinge of regret on the part of the veteran power forward, saying ‘not many people can say that they lived their dream.’

“For 9 amazing years, I was fortunate enough to do just that,” said Reyes, who proceeded to extend his thanks to Filipino basketball fans, his former teammates, and coaches.

“I gave everything I had to live my dream, and now I’ll give everything I have to my family, that they might live theirs” he added.

Reyes averaged 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in nine seasons in the league. He was part of the TnT team that won the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup championship.
