SCHONNY Winston looks to be a great fit for NLEX in his first few games with his new team during the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup.
Winston was acquired by NLEX during the offseason in three-team trade in which Javee Mocon landed at Meralco, and Jonnel Policarpio and Kurt Reyson headed to Winston's former team Converge.
One can argue that NLEX may have won in the trade, based on Winston's numbers.

Through his first four games with the Road Warriors, Winston is already averaging 15.75 points on a true shooting percentage of 51 while also chipping in 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
He is on pace to surpass his elimination round averages during the 50th Season Philippine Cup where he had 12.18 points, 3.36 rebounds, and 2.55 assists.
“Si Schonny, parang beterano na maglaro,” said an impressed NLEX coach Jong Uichico. “Hindi siya nakikipag-agaw, kung darating yung bola sa kanya, darating yung bola sa kanya. Tapos diskarte na lang niya kung papaano niya gagamitin yung bola sa kamay niya. Abang abang lang, kapag sa kanya yung play, okay. Kapag hindi, hanap ako ng ibang paraan.
Aside from scoring, Winston is also defending for NLEX with an average of 2.5 steals -- good for fourth in the league, as of the Lenten break, also on pace to surpass his 0.91 average during the Philippine Cup last conference.
Uichico recalled tasking Winston to guard Justin Brownlee during his 46-point night that NLEX still managed to win, 118-113, last March 27.
NLEX has a 3-1 win-loss record through four matches in the Commissioner's Cup.
“At saka dumedepensa si Schonny. Salitan nga sila ni Ritchie Rodger kay Brownlee pero magaling talaga (si Brownlee). Pero pareho silang may defensive mindset. Yun ang gusto ko kay Schonny. Two-way player na may depensa at opensa rin,” said Uichico.
