TNT found another prized catch in the free agent market to beef up its roster in PBA Season 50.
High-flyer Tyrus Hill is taking his act to the Tropang 5G after agreeing to a one-year deal on Monday, according to TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa.
Hill was with representative Marvin Espiritu of EMBM when Lastimosa formally signed him to a contract.
He is the second player tabbed by the telecommunication franchise from the free agency after shooting wingman Kevin Ferrer, formerly of Terrafirma.
The Tropang 5G will be the third team of the 29-year-old Hill entering his fourth season in the league.
He previously suited up for Converge and Blackwater before being relegated to the unrestricted free agent list by the Bossing midway through the season-ending Philippine Cup.
Aside from TNT, Hill also had eyes on Rain or Shine after the Bossing finally let go of him.
‘Yes, dun (Rain or Shine) muna siya nagpunta,” said Espiritu.
But the Elasto Painters couldn’t offer the De La Salle product a spot in their roster as they have an abundance of players at the moment, including several players the team picked in the last draft.
“Kaya nag try out siya next sa TNT,” Espiritu added.
Hill gets to join a team that is a consistent title contender year in and year out.
The Tropang 5G actually, are coming off a remarkable season that saw them fell short of scoring a grand slam, a bid torpedoed by San Miguel which beat TNT in the finals of the season-ending Philippine Cup.
TNT earlier won the first two conferences of the season – the Governors’ Cup and Commissioner’s Cup, respectively.
