TOP rookie pick Junemar Fajardo had the unfortunate experience of spending Christmas Day in a Cebu hospital after contracting typhoid fever.
Reports reaching Spin.ph revealed that the Petron Blaze center was vacationing in the Queen City of the South when he got hit by the infection.
But the No. 1 overall pick of the 2012 Draft is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
“Na-typhoid, Pero okay na siya. Magaling na siya,” texted a source close to the Petron big man.
“Palabas na bukas (Saturday) ng ospital.”
The same source said Petron officials were alarmed after initial reports reached them that the 6-foot-10 rookie was hit by dengue.
This marked the second time Fajardo was hospitalized in his rookie season. He earlier went under the knife to stop the swelling and bleeding on his scrotum.
Meanwhile, Petron tentatively returns to practice on January 3 at the Acropolis gym.
Renald Balkman, the Boosters’ import for the coming Commissioner’s Cup, is expected to arrive in the country anytime soon.
