TYLER Tio was given a contract extension by Phoenix a day before the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup gets underway at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The 28-year-old guard out of Ateneo signed a new, three-year deal.

He is now in his fourth season with the franchise which picked him in the second round at No. 14 overall during the Season 47 draft.
Team governor Atty. Raymond Zorilla and Fuel Masters team manager Paolo Bugia were present during the contract signing, while Tio was with his representative PJ Pilares of Titan Management Group.
After struggling with injuries in the past, Tio was healthy for the most part of Season 50 and averaged 9.9 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in the Commissioner's Cup, where Phoenix managed to earn a berth to the playoffs after a two-year absence.
His memorable game in the conference came when he drilled the game-clinching three pointer for the Fuel Masters off the outstretched arm of TNT import Bol Bol in a 100-97 win during the eliminations.
