HONG Kong Eastern Sports Club heated up late to put away NLEX, 98-85, in a tune-up match at the FCL Center on Thursday.
The Christian Standhardinger-led Hong Kong side gained control early before leaning on Tyler Lamb in the final stretch to hold off the Road Warriors and claim the victory.
The Road Warriors got to as close as four, 86-82, in the final minutes, but were limited to just three points from there as the reigning ABL champions restored order behind Lamb’s clutch baskets.
The visitors put together a scintillating 12-3 finish kick against an NLEX team led by celebrated rookie Kiefer Ravena.
Hong Kong opens its title-retention bid in the ABL on November 19 against Alab Pilipinas at the Mall of Asia Arena.
