TWO Korean teams will play tune-up games against PBA squads in preparation for their domestic league.
The Jeonju KCC Egis and the Changwon LG Sakers are scheduled to play several matches against local teams like Barangay Ginebra, NLEX, Blackwater, and Meralco, officials from those squads confirmed.
Jeonju is one of the top teams in the Korean Basketball League (KBL), having won five titles, while Changwon had two runner-up finishes. Both sides have decided to hold their training camp in the Philippines.
The Sakers and Egis finished third and fourth, respectively, last season in the KBL.
Aside from a series of tune-ups, the Sakers are slated to play Barangay Ginebra on September 17 in the ‘Asian Basketball Showdown 2’ to be held at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. The exhibition is part of the 70-year anniversary of the friendship between Korea and Philippines.
One of the notable players for the Sakers is Jong Kyu Kim, who played for Korea in the Fiba Basketball World Cup.
