WITH the Rey Nambatac trade hanging in the balance, Blackwater did the next best thing to do – sign two of its players to new deals.
The Bossing agreed to a fresh two-year contracts with young gun Jaydee Tungcab and veteran Bradwyn Guinto for Season 49 of the PBA.
Tungcab and Guinto were signed over the weekend, with no less than Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy on hand.

The contract renewals came amidst the pending trade between Blackwater and TNT involving Nambatac in exchange for Kib Montalbo and a future second round pick.
The PBA trade committee has thumbed down the deal pending revised terms.
Unearthing hidden gems
Both Tungcab and Guinto played major minutes for coach Jeff Cariaso in the season about to end.
Tungcab was acquired by the Bossing following a three-team trade that also involved TNT and NLEX and centered on sophomore Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.
He averaged 5.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in the Philippine Cup where he also had a career-high 19 points in their 102-83 rout of Phoenix for their final assignment.
But it was Guinto who was a big revelation for Blackwater after being picked up from free agency just before the start of Season 48.
He normed 4.6 points. 3.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 22 games with the Bossing. The former San Sebastian stalwart, a second round pick (14th overall) by the KIA franchise in the 2015 Draft, even started several games.
Also present during the contract signing were team governor Siliman Sy, manager Johnson Martinez, assistant team manager Rhona Tibor, and players’ agent Marvin Espiritu.
