RONALD Tubid has one major appeal to incoming Barako Bull coach Rajko Toroman.
Go easy on the Energy Cola’s aging men.
“Sana naman medyo mag-adjust muna si coach Rajko (sa training style niya),” Tubid told to Spin.ph, fully aware of the rigid training style of the Serbian coach.
The team’s average age definitely has something to do with it.
“You know naman, hindi naman na bata `yung Barako,” added Tubid, mentioning the names of teammates who are past the age of 35, among them Danny Seigle (36), Mick Pennisi (37), Roger Yap (35), and Celino Cruz (35).
Although a contract has to be hammered out, Toroman attended Barako Bull's practice on Monday and is expected to take charge of the team's training on Tuesday.
“Sa akin wala namang problema yung training. Naisip ko lang `yung ibang kakampi ko, galing pa naman sa injury yung karamihan,” reiterated the 29-year-old former University of the East Red Warrior.
“Pag nagkita kami, talagang makikiusap ako na dahan-dahan lang ng kaunti ang training kasi baka maubos mga kakampi ko. We’re not that young team anymore,” he added.
This developed as Tubid said he is excited to work with the former coach of the Philippine and Iran national teams.
“Maganda ito kasi alam ko marami akong matutunan sa coaching niya, lalo pa talagang sa Europe at ibang bansa pa siya nagpakabihasa sa kanyang profession,” added the native of Oton, Iloilo.
