WITH Barangay Ginebra’s PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup campaign finally coming to an end, Troy Rosario will now have the luxury of fully recovering from the groin injury that hampered him in the semifinals series against San Miguel.
Rosario confirmed the presence of a tear to his groin area shortly after the Gin Kings bowed out of the best-of-seven affair following a 101-88 loss in Game 6 Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Heavily taped, the veteran big man played through the pain, but obviously favored the injury, as he only managed to score three points alongside two assists and zero rebounds.
“Kaya naman. Pero siyempre, ayoko namang maging liability sa laro. Kitang-kita naman na nag-aalangan ako sa mga yapak ko, sa talon ko,” said Rosario.

The National U product sustained the injury in Game 5, limiting his minutes and movements in a 115-109 loss.
He was a game-time decision in the series clincher after the tear was verified following two MRI tests.
“Nung nandito na lang ako sa venue, doon na lang nalaman na may punit yung quads na nagko-compensate doon sa groin area,” Rosario said.
Nonetheless, coach Tim Cone had so much trust in him, Rosario was even made a part of the starting unit along with Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson, RJ Abarrientos, and Stephen Holt.
“Ginawan namin ng paraan. Heavy tape para ma-assist lang and makapaglakad ako nang maayos,” he said. ‘Dineload muna yung quads ko, yung groin ko tinape, tapos puro painkillers. Pero masakit pa rin.
“Pero kaya. Hindi nga lang 100-percent. Parang sa 70 to 80-percent lang talaga.”
Rest for Rosario
With the midseason Commissioner’s Cup set to begin on March 11, Rosario looks forward to the break that would allow him to recover from the injury.

No surgery is actually needed, according to him.
“Yung mga ganitong injury, pahinga lang talaga. Needs rest bago mo palakasin ulit. Natsambahan lang talaga,” he said.
“Two to three weeks siguro. Sabi ni PT Arcee [Cua], mga one week na pahinga para mag-heal lang yung sugat sa loob. Tapos tsaka siya iri-rehab.”
Get well, Troy.
